1,000 m above sea level, but with both feet firmly on the ground – this is how MareMare takes its guests from the Steinernes Meer region (which translates to “sea of stones”) to the Mediterranean and back again. In design, culinary and with all senses. The Bottega in Hinterthal combines Mediterranean joie de vivre with local products. The result: a place for locals and vacationers that feels like a second living room.
What happens when Mediterranean lightness meets Alpine vacation flair? The answer is “MareMare” – Steinernes Meer region (which translate to “sea of stones” and is located in Austrias Salzburg region) meets Mediterranean. The brand story of the Bottega tells of the love story of both worlds and what results when they meet.
The brand design makes the southern spirit of the owners Nicole and Sarjo tangible. White tiles become the defining design element – both in the branding and in the architecture. As a pattern, the tiles can be found again and again as a linear grid system. In the interior, a white tile wall with an XXL hidden object picture (a la Portugal) welcomes guests in the entrance area.

The tiles, so typical of the Mediterranean area, become the defining design element. They are not only found in the Bottega, but are applied as a design grid in the design.
An XXL hidden object image greets guests as soon as they enter the Bottega. Illustrations show restaurant scenes in which the South meets the Alpine region: a granny pours wine glasses with a flower pot, influencers photograph their food, Botticelli’s Venus stands on the slopes in a ski outfit. This combination of both worlds shows the spirit of the Bottega: open mind, open kitchen, open end.
